The Kubuntu distribution is a spin-off from Ubuntu, which aims to create a new user-friendly desktop system using the Linux operating system. Kubuntu comes with the KDE Plasma Desktop Environment installed by default and provides users with similar functionality and visual appearance (a 'look-and-feel') to other current popular operating systems such as Windows XP and Apple's Mac OS X.
Linuxbrew is a linux port of homebrew, the MacOS package manager. The goal of linuxbrew is to make it easier for people to install software on their home computer. It accomplishes this by making packages available that are built for multiple versions of Linux. Also, by default, packages are installed in your home directory without needing root access on your systems.
